Sky Dental provides comprehensive dental care for our patients including but not limited to:

Restorative Dentistry - Filling cavities, repairing chips and breaks, and replacing missing teeth. We use the latest materials and techniques to restore your teeth to proper function and form.

Cosmetic Dentistry - We take a conservative approach to cosmetic dentistry. Veneers, composite bonding, and even simple recontouring of your natural teeth can make a large impact on your smile.

Periodontal Treatment - An estimated 80% of people have some form of gum disease. We will assess your oral soft tissues and recommend treatment to keep your gums healthy.

Tooth Replacement - Fixed bridges, complete dentures, partial dentures, and implant restoration. You have several options to replace missing teeth and we can recommend the best solution that fits your particular needs.

Tooth Whitening - In-office laser whitening with the Zoom Advanced whitening system. Take-home treatments using Opalescence whitening gel or Day White 30-minute gel.

ClearCorrect 101

Bridges

A bridge is prescribed when one or more teeth are missing and there are healthy teeth on both sides of the open space.

Bridges can be made of three types of materials: Solid gold for reliable long wear, porcelain fused to a gold base for strength and beauty, and high-strength metal-free porcelain for optimum cosmetic results.

With proper care, your new bridge will increase your overall health, and last for many years.

Bridges are prescribed for missing teeth, or severely damaged teeth that require exraction.

The teeth on both sides of the open space are prepared by eliminating tooth structure.

After fabrication, the bridge is cemented to the prepared teeth.

Bridges restore the natural beauty, health, and function of teeth.

Crowns

A crown is prescribed for a tooth that is too badly decayed, broken or cracked, and cannot be restored with a filling.

Crowns are normally needed for teeth that have had a root canal treatment; another use for crowns is to replace missing teeth by means of dental implants - see our implants section for more.

Crowns can be made entirely of gold, or porcelain fused to a gold substrate for strength and beauty. With new technology, crowns can be made entirely from high-strength ceramic and porcelain for beautiful cosmetic results.

With proper care, your crown will increase your overall health and instill confidence in your new look.

The tooth is prepared by eliminating surface structure.

After fabrication, the crown is cemented to the prepared tooth.

Dentures

If you have lost some or all of your natural teeth, dentures can be used to replaced your missing teeth, improving your health as well as appearance.

Dentures prevent the sagging of facial muscles, which makes a person with no teeth look much older. Dentures also enable you to eat and speak normally - little things that are taken for granted until natural teeth are lost.

Brush your gums, tongue, and palate every morning with a soft-bristled brush before inserting your denturesto help circulation in your tissues and to help remove plaque.

Regular dental checkups are needed to ensure a comfortable fit.

Fillings

Fillings are used to repair decayed, cracked or broken teeth, as well as teeth that have been worn down from misuse (such as from nail-biting or tooth grinding ).

To treat a cavity, the decayed portion of the tooth is removed and the area where the decayed material once lived is filled with a filling material.

Teeth can be filled with gold, porcelain, silver amalgam (mercury mixed with silver, tin, zinc, and copper), or tooth-colored materials called composite resin fillings.

The location and extent of the decay, cost of filling material, your insurance coverage and our recommendation will assist you in determining the type of filling that will best address your needs.

Decayed teeth require fillings to restore strength and health of natural teeth.

The decayed portion of the tooth is removed from the healthy tooth structure.

Filling material is shaped to match the look and feel of the natural tooth.

Filling material can be used to mimic the color and texture of the natural tooth.

Gum Disease

Gum disease is usually caused by plaque, a sticky film of bacteria that constantly forms on your teeth.

If plaque is not removed with thorough daily brushing and cleaning betwen your teeth, your gums can become irritated and inflamed.

The irritated gum tissue can separate from teeth and form spaces called pockets - bacteria move into the pockets where they continue to promote irritation.

Left untreated, the process can continue until the bone and tooth-supporting tissue are destroyed. The early stage of peridontal disease is called gingivitis - it often results in gums that are red and swollen and that bleed easily.

Implants

When it comes to replacing one or more teeth in your mouth, a dental implant is often the treatment of choice and is the most conservative treatment for tooth replacement. Implants, unlike bridges, do not require removal of tooth structure from adjacent teeth for support.

Implants are biocompatible posts that are physically and biologically designed to attach to your jaw bone and become a foundation for a natural looking restoration.

Your new tooth or teeth will have excellent stability and strength, and will look and feel like your natural teeth.

Implants are prescribed to replace missing teeth.

An implant post is surgically implanted into the area where the tooth is missing.

A customized crown, or bridge, is permanently cemented to the implanted post.

Implants restore the natural beauty and health of teeth.

Veneers

A veneer is prescribed for a tooth that is damaged, discolored, or broken.

Unlike a crown, which covers the entire tooth, a veneer is a thin shell that is placed over the front, or visible parts of the tooth to provide a cosmetic look.

There are two types of veneers: Ceramic veneers that are produced by a dental laboratory and resin-based composite veneers.

With proper care, your new veneers will greatly improve your appearance and increase your confidencefor years to come.

Whitening

Everyone loves a bright and white smile. We offer a variety of products and procedures to help you improve the color of your teeth.

Zoom whitening is a popular procedure that ensures whiter teeth in a single seating - your teeth will be, on average, eight shades whiter.

A customized whitening tray will be created for you to help you maintain your whiter smile at home.

Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth or third molars are the last teeth to erupt in your mouth, but are the teeth least needed for good oral health.

Removal is often the wisest decision for your health and well-being.

Most people have four wisdom teeth that usually erupt through the gums in their late teens or early twenties.

Sometimes, wisdom teeth remain trapped in the jawbone under the gums because their is insufficient room for them to erupt, or because they are growing at an angle and impacting other teeth.

Wisdom teeth can cause gum disease, crowding, damage to adjacent teeth, decay, and bone-destroying cysts.

Pain and swelling are the most common symptoms of problem wisdom teeth - whether you have obvious symptoms or not, it is important to diagnose existing or potential problems related to your wisdom teeth.

Root Canals

Endodontic treatment is necessary when the pulp, the soft tissue inside the root canal, becomes inflamed or infected.

The inflammation or infection can have a variety of causes: deep decay, repeated dental procedures on the tooth, or a crack or chip in the tooth.

In addition, an injury to a tooth may cause pulp damage even if the tooth has no visible chips or cracks.

If pulp inflammation or infection is left untreated, it can cause pain or lead to an abscess.

I want to thank you for considering Sky Dental for your dental needs. I have been providing full service general and cosmetic dentalcare to families in the Humble / Atascocita / Kingwood area since 2007. Prior to Texas, I practiced dentistry in Pennsylvania and in New York.

My primary concern is to provide the best possible care for my patients based on their specific needs. My approach is conservative. I will always recommend the treatment option that will preserve your natural tooth structure when possible.

About Dr. Abby

Dr. Abby is originally from Tampa, Florida, where she attended the University of South Florida and earned a B.S. in Biology in 1996. She attended graduate school in Pennsylvania at the University of Pittsburgh where she earned a Doctorate of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) and a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) in 2003. Dr. Abby further advanced her skills as a dental resident at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown, PA.

Her professional affiliations and memberships include the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, and the Greater Houston Dental Society. She is also an active member of the Seattle Study Club.

About Dr. Linger

Dr. Linger is true Texan – Born and raised in Austin, then relocated to Kingwood in 1997 with her family. A proud Fightin’ Texas Aggie, Dr. Linger attended Texas A&M University and earned her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Genetics in 2002.

Dr. Linger received her Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, where she was class president for three years.

Dr. Linger is married to her college sweetheart, Steven, a fellow Aggie, and they have a beautiful young daughter. Dr. Linger and her family, which includes 2 Dachshunds, live in the Humble-Kingwood area.

Dr. Linger’s professional affiliations and memberships include the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, and the Greater Houston Dental Society. She is also an active member of the Seattle Study Club. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with loved ones, traveling, reading, and playing board and card games.
